Specialist Clinics

This list shows some of the services we offer at St Andrews. If you need help or advice regarding who you should see, or if there is a specific service you are looking for, please telephone the surgery on 023 8061 2472 and one of the receptionists will be able to help you.

 

Cervical Smear Clinic

This clinic is run by our Practice Nurses. When your smear is due you will be sent a letter asking you to make an appointment. If you wish to check when your next smear should be, telephone the surgery and we will be pleased to help you by checking your records.

Child Health Clinics

The Health Visitors hold weekly clinics at the Chamberlayne Children's Centre, Chamberlayne Road (next to Norwood School) on Wednesday mornings from 10.30 am to 12.00. No appointments are necessary. You can have your baby weighed and talk over any problems you may have, with your Health Visitor or Nursery Nurse. Developmental assessments for children aged eight months and three and a quarter years, are undertaken by the Health Visitors. You will receive an appointment at the appropriate time

VACCINATION SCHEDULE

 

Chronic Disease Management

The Doctors and Practice Nurses regularly monitor patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, Asthma, COPD and coronary heart disease.
You may be asked to come to the surgery for medication reviews, blood pressure checks or blood tests. We would ask you to co-operate with these requests as we want to be able to offer you the best possible care.

 

Combined Tetanus and Diphtheria Vaccinations

Five doses of the above vaccine will cover you for life unless a new major injury is sustained 10 or more years after your last vaccination. Please ask at the reception desk if you are not sure whether you need a booster dose. If our staff cannot help you they will ask a member of the nursing staff for their advice.

 

Family Planning

All Doctors are happy to give Family Planning Advice. 

 

Flu Vaccinations

Around September or October each year we encourage patients with chronic medical conditions e.g. heart disease, diabetes, asthma and those who are over 65 to have a flu vaccination.

Immunisations

Routine child immunisations are done at the baby clinic by a Practice Nurse. If your child is due an injection you can phone the surgery to book an appointment.

 

Maternity Service

All the Doctors together with the attached community midwife provide antenatal and postnatal care. Doctors also carry out baby checks six-eight weeks after birth.

 

Musculoskeletal Medicine

Some Doctors carry out a range of musculoskeletal procedures including joint injections. Your doctor can refer you as appropriate.

 

Post Natal Depression Group

This group is run by the health visitors. 

 

Quit 4 Life

A stop smoking clinic is held at the surgery. If you would like to make an appointment for this clinic please telephone the surgery, or if you are seeing the doctor or nurse please ask them for information about this service.

Support Group For Mums

This group is for mums of under 1 year olds and is run by the Health Visiting team.

 

Travel Clinic

Appointments are available for people who need holiday vaccinations. General advice is also offered for those who are travelling to foreign countries. Please telephone the surgery at least six weeks advance of your holiday to make the necessary arrangements. We may not be able to accommodate requests for holiday vaccinations required at shorter notice due to pressure on our nursing services and patients will be notified of their options.  Charges will be made for some travel immunisations.
